ABOUT

I grew up in Portland, OR., and went to college in Jacksonville, FL.  That's where I met Ryan.  He saw me and found my french braided hair irresistible.  We married in '99.  After living in Oregon for a few years, we moved to its cultural opposite, Baton Rouge, LA.  It's a good ole boy southern town that thinks it's a big city.  We've called it home for eight years.  We do eat lots of jambalaya and gumbo, but we don't ride alligators or anything of the sort....

I love two little cajun boys more than I know how to describe and more than I ever knew possible.  My husband is not perfect, but pretty close....maybe when he stops chewing ice?  Truly, I am the lucky one.  I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you about my Mom and Dad. It's rare that people live up to the values they espouse, they do.  I'm most grateful for their legacy of faith.  Also, my three siblings. They make me laugh until my side hurts, but I shudder to think of the comments they will leave..... this is risky.

Recreated is my blog.  It's a place to explore beauty of heart and home.  Slipcovered furniture, vintage lighting and a good monogram all make my heart palpitate,.... but without context finite things can take over a life.  All beauty is meant to be a reflection of Someone bigger.  To create a longing for something more.  And a reminder that our eternal home will be infinite bliss.  (Where I am personally hoping to have a clawfoot tub and circa lighting). But until then I'm enjoying the journey here -struggling at times to savor the beauty He gives, but cherish the giver more. To hold it all with an open and willing hand.

So, as much as I love interior design and I DO, I hope I'm more concerned about beauty within.  I am of the belief that the two are linked. This is my journey of a heart and home recreated.  Thanks for stopping by.  I hope we'll visit often.
